The PSX Demo Project

It's a very nice story.

Nico the Demo-God

Nico is the one who got me to collect PS1 Demo's. This text will explain, how i came exactly to collect them and how our Demo-Project started.

Videogames helped me a lot in my life and i played them since i was 3 years old. My dad bought often PC- and PlayStation magazine's. The first Demo that i can remember is the Autumn/Christmas Releases SCED-00273. This Demo was included by Crash Bandicoot, that's the disc "autumnchristmas96-1.jpg". It was a pity that i cannot play the Destruction Derby 2 Demo on it. That Demo only features 4 replays. A bit later i played the game on PC, it was the Matrox enhanced bundled version for the Matrox Mystique Video Card. A nice memory is also, that i played with 5 years WWF Smackdown on the Play Zone Vol. 18 SLED-02721. I never knew before, that a sport exist that i like to play and watch. Some months later i played the Euro Demo 10/00 SCED-02663. I can remember that i played Spider-Man and Rayman 2 on it. Then the Euro Demo 11/00 SCED-02664 and this is up today my favorite Demo disc. I can also remember that i played for hours Spyro 3 in the skatepark and Crash Bash on the Pogo Painter level in the CPU team mode. After the PS2 was released, my dad sold his PS1 to bought the PS2. In 2002 i got to my birthday my own PS1 (SCPH-102) together with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. I searched then all the Demo disc's (~30) from my dad and played them a lot. I found cool games that i bought later, like Frontschweine (Hogs of War) and Destruction Derby Raw. After my parents separated, i went to my dad and lost all my things.

In 2016 i found this epic Video! Pure nostalgia.

This video tooked me back to my childhood. It was so nice hear the music and see the menu of the disc again. In February 2017 i searched on ebay a replacement disc holder for my PSone console. I also bought 5 Demo disc's, because ebay recommended me them and i remembered the video that i saw. The 5 Demos were Germany Speziale 11/99 SCED-02383, Winter Releases SCED-02306, Colin McRae Rally SLED-01381, Demo One SCED-00457, Demo 1 Version 5 PBPX-95001. After that i became a PS1 Demo Collector. I searched big packages on ebay and i found a offer which had contained 13 PlayStation Zone Demos and the Registration Demo 01 SCED-00637. I bought them from the seller and asked him if he has also the Euro Demo 11/00 SCED-02664. He answered yes and wanted to gift me that disc. He asked if i need another one. I wrote Euro Demo 08/00 SCED-02661 and he given me that disc also for free. What a friendly guy i thought. After i watched his ebay profile, i saw at the profile picture that he's the guy from the Youtube video that i saw. This was a really nice coincidence. We are still in contact and over the years, it has been developed an friendship. He's very friendly and he helped me alot to collect other Demos. He is also talented in telling highly inteteresting monologues for up to +67 minutes. I'm very happy about became acquainted with him.

The Demo-Project

On 2. May 2018 Nico and i started to record our PS1 Demos. We said that we do it very relaxed. So if we want to play a demo, then we record it first. The goal is to play all PS1 Demos. We know that other people done this already, but we do it for fun and it's nostalgic. Currently we working on the Demo One's and the Euro Demo Germany series. For me it's also helpful, to improve my Audio-Mastering skills.
